Privacy Policy

This policy describes the information collected during a visit, the reasons it may be used, and the limited situations in which another party may receive it. By continuing to use Walla Walla County Criminal History, you accept these privacy practices.

Data You Give Us Directly

Search Queries

A name or place entered in a search tool is sent to the outside provider that operates that tool. The provider processes the query and supplies its result. We do not keep or log those search terms on our systems.

Messages and Contact Submissions

We retain an email or contact message as needed to answer it. It remains within our organization unless disclosure is required by law.

Data We Gather Automatically

Our servers automatically receive basic technical and usage details when a page loads:

  • The IP address assigned to your device
  • Which browser you are using and its version
  • Your device type and operating system
  • The pages you visited and how long you stayed on each
  • The site that sent you here, if any
  • Timestamps for each page view

Cookies and Analytics

Cookies are small device files that help measure visits, popular pages, and where browsing sessions end. Analytics providers combine that activity into traffic reports. You may block cookies through your browser, although doing so can change how parts of the site work.

What We Do With This Data

  • Route a query to the selected search partner
  • Maintain site speed, availability, and core functions
  • Diagnose errors and other technical problems
  • Measure which content visitors use
  • Display advertising that may reflect visitor interests

No Criminal-Record Data on File

Walla Walla County Criminal History does not host, compile, or sell a database of personal criminal records. It publishes general directions to the Walla Walla County Sheriff, Corrections, local courts, Washington State Patrol, and Washington Sex Offender Public Registry. Visitor information is not assembled into consumer reports or third-party criminal profiles. This site is not a consumer reporting agency under the Fair Credit Reporting Act. Official agency disclosure is governed separately by the Washington Public Records Act and the criminal-history dissemination rules in RCW 10.97.050.

Third-Party Search Partners

Outside companies operate the search boxes. Their privacy terms, retention rules, and sharing practices govern any information submitted to them. We do not control those policies, so review the provider's notice before running a query.

Links to Other Websites

Links may lead to county offices, Washington agencies, courts, legal resources, or private search tools. Once you leave this site, the destination's privacy policy applies. Review it before disclosing personal information.

Advertising providers may use their own systems to measure activity across sites and tailor ads.

Who Might See Your Data

We do not sell personal information. Data may be available only to:

  • Search partners that handle queries you run on our site
  • Analytics services we use to track traffic and performance
  • Ad networks that place ads on our pages
  • Law enforcement or government bodies when a valid legal order requires it

How We Protect Your Data

Reasonable security practices protect the information we handle. No internet system is completely secure, so we cannot guarantee that unauthorized access or a breach will never occur.

Users Under 18

This service is intended for adults, and we do not knowingly collect personal data from anyone under 18. If we learn that a minor supplied such information, we will delete it.

Your Data Rights

Washington's Consumer Protection Act, chapter 19.86 RCW, and other law may provide rights based on the facts and place involved. At a minimum, you may:

  • Ask for a copy of what we have on file about you
  • Have us fix information that is wrong
  • Request that we erase your data
  • Opt out of certain kinds of data processing
